The upcoming generation of phones
Before we dive into the detail, here are some of the anticipated handsets for 2022:
- Motorola Frontier
- Vivo X80
- Nokia X50
- Nothing phone (1)
- Xiaomi 12 Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
- Google Pixel 7
- Apple iPhone 14
- Google Pixel Fold
Motorola Frontier
The Motorola Frontier is expected to be the company’s flagship phone, with a 194-megapixel primary camera, 6.7-inch 144Hz display, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. According to rumors, it will not be released until July 2022.
Vivo X80
The X80 series will be released in China on April 25th, however, there is no indication of a global release. On the back, there’s a Zeiss camera, but we’re looking for MediaTek Dimensity 9000 power, 80W charging, and Android 12 with a 6.78in AMOLED display.
Nokia X50
Although there have been several rumors of a Nokia 9 PureView successor, the trail appears to have gone cold, leading to speculation that Nokia may instead release a Nokia 8.3 replacement with five cameras, potentially dubbed the Nokia X50. A 6.5-inch display, Snapdragon 700 series technology, and a 108-megapixel primary camera are all possibilities. The launch date has been set for 2022.
Nothing phone (1)
Nothing, Carl Pei’s new startup, plans to release a smartphone named Nothing phone (1). The exact date of introduction is unknown, however, we anticipate it in the summer of 2022. It will be Qualcomm-powered, run Android, and feature a clean design with no bloatware. We anticipate it having a transparent back.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra
While Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 12 at Mobile World Congress, rumors suggest that a Xiaomi 12 Ultra is in the pipeline, using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus as its processor. It is scheduled to debut in Q3 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
In 2022, Samsung is likely to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 4 at a major event. The dimensions and style will be similar to the Z Fold 3, although it will supposedly be thinner. We anticipate a strong push for this phone, but not one that includes the S Pen.
Google Pixel 7
Google has confirmed the design of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in an unexpected way. The camera bar on the rear is now made of aluminum, as is the rest of the chassis, and this phone is expected to arrive with Tensor 2. The announcement was made at Google I/O 2022, although the debut isn’t planned until October of that year.
Apple iPhone 14
With Apple’s two-year design cycle, the iPhone 14 should feature a completely new look. That might mean ditching the notch in favor of a punch hole camera and in-display Touch ID. As is customary, we anticipate an announcement in October.
Google Pixel Fold
The earliest reports about a foldable Pixel surfaced in 2019, with the second leak in 2020 claiming the codename would be Passport and that it would be released in Q4 2021. That didn’t happen, but there are currently rumors that it will be released in 2022.
