IND vs. ENG: Jaiswal becomes the third-youngest Indian to reach 200 with a double hundred
Jaiswal, at 22 years and 37 days, is the youngest double centurion for India, only surpassed by Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar.
In Saturday’s second Test match between India and England cricket match in Visakhapatnam, Yashasvi Jaiswal made history by becoming the third-youngest player in Indian history to get a double hundred.
Jaiswal is the only person on the list behind Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar, at 22 years and 37 days. Gavaskar achieved a double ton at 21 years and 277 days, while Kambli achieved it at 21 years and 32 days.
On the list, the southpaw passed Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who at 23 years and 34 days had scored a double ton.
With the score at 179 at the end of the day, Jaiswal took just eight overs to reach 200. Reaching the milestone, he slog-swept Shoaib Bashir for a six and a four.
At the Vizag ground, Yashasvi Jaiswal prevailed against the spin bowling and respected James Anderson’s hard deliveries. When facing England spinners, the young Indian opener’s strike rate was an outstanding 86.09, but it dipped significantly to 25.37 against James Anderson, England’s lone fast bowler.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stated after the first day of play in Vizag that his only goals going forward are to bat disciplined and in control of the ball despite shifting pitch conditions. The youthful opener also disclosed that he received numerous messages from Indian captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid urging him to take advantage of this chance to smash a huge score.
