After tea, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was playing in his 100th Test match, grabbed the final two wickets. England was faltering at 194 for 8 at teatime.
Earlier, India’s Kuldeep Yadav, a great spinner, had England all at sea as he claimed his fourth five-wicket haul.
England lost three wickets for no runs when Kuldeep orchestrated a middle-order collapse. suddenly they were struggling at 175 for six from three down on the same score.
After taking two wickets in the morning, the left-arm wrist spinner took three more in the afternoon, while R Ashwin claimed two.
During the session, England lost eight wickets for 118 runs.
On the second ball of the day, Kuldeep had the opportunity to dismiss Zak Crawley (79 off 108). India chose to try for a catch instead of a DRS.
However, the 29-year-old spinner did not have to wait long as he broke the England opener’s leg stump with a huge turn from the fictitious fifth stump. Crawley was fired as a result of both the abrupt turn and the inward slide.
Similar to Ashwin, Jonny Bairstow (29 off 19) is playing in his 100th Test match. He had a lot of intention during his innings, but it was short-lived. Similar to the other batters, he was unable to discern Kuldeep’s hand signals and only managed to get a thin edge off a googly.
